The rubbish bin

She has been conditioned, and accepted her destiny, as the rubbish bin, the person people would come to unload their emotions and problem. She believes this is what she was born for. Her life is destined to help others feel better, to accept all the rubbish thrown at her and give love in return.

She thought she was complete and content. Then she realised that when she became too full and needed to unload, all the people around her ran away. "You are so strong and mature, I believe you will be able to solve your own problems. I cannot help you, you are much better than me. I admire you. You are the pillar of your family..... And by the way here are my rubbish I throw to you."

She did not feel better this time. She realised that she is the rubbish bin even for the person who should have been her carer, since she was nine. She suddenly realised why she was so independent, strong, high achiever. She lost her childhood at year three. She stopped being a child and became the rubbish bin.

She seek friendships with older people to replace her stolen childhood. She befriended the mountains, the tree and the ocean. She heard the black bird spoke.

Now she is a mother. She wished she could continue being a strong rubbish bin for everyone around her. For her son, her husband, her mother. She took on a career that care for others. It was her calling. She is the rubbish bin and she is proud to live her destiny.

She is full today. Too full to see anything else but the rubbish she collected, all the rubbish that others thrown at her. She cannot breathe. She is choking of rubbish. She tried to scream for help but those she begged for help just throw rubbish instead - with praised of how strong and wonderful she is. She is waiting for the local authority to collect the rubbish. They are not coming. She is alone, too full and broken. And people throw more rubbish. And more And more. She is drawning....

My parents' love story 50 years ago

My mum wrote this sweet love story if her first date with my dad 50 years ago, and my dad kindly posed a reenactment. What a very sweet couple!

"... in 1962 ... this man spent ALL his savings to buy 5 cones of Ragusa Italian Ice cream for the girl he had decided to be his wife ... but in his eagerness to please the whole family, he tripped and dropped ALL 5 cones ... 50 years ago, in this exact position, at the point of crossing the street ... but he was sooo much younger, sooo much thinner, and sooo much poorer than he is in this pic ... Yet he is still the same man, my dear dear Joe ;D

I love you forever, Daddy Joe <3"

Then and now

It's funny how certain memories from childhood can sustain, vividly.

This summer my husband Andy, my son Jacques and me drove to France for two weeks. Camping here and there and thankfully, we managed to find tge old house in Toulouse. Not far from Blanac Airport.

I lived in this house in Toulouse, France in 1982 for almost a year. My dad was assigned to Aerospatiale - now merged as airbus - for over a year. So mum, my little sister and ne joined him.

Here are we now, me and son Jacques.
My 8-year-old self and my little sister in 1982

The side porch where we spent some summer evenings having dinner with my dad's friends. Mum would drink Martini Rose and chat with her friend Chantelle, while I played with her daughters Isabelle and Natalie.
